Berber Home-Stay in the High Atlas Mountains

Feel Like Family in a Traditional Berber Home

For an authentic experience, step off the tourist trail and stay with a local Berber family. Even if you're only staying one night, you will have memories to last a lifetime...

They say that home is where your heart lies. Now we're sure it's not  possible to replace your home, but while you're miles away from it, we  strive our best to replicate the feeling of belongingness and comfort  you can find only at your home.

Welcome to Berber Homestay

Being a part of the family means you're able to get hands on in the kitchen, imagine:

  • learning how to prepare a delicious couscous dish. Did you know we actually steam the couscous instead of boil it?
  •  layering your own Tajine and learning the secret spice blends
  •  making your own Berber bread

The House

Berber Homestay in High Atlas is a small renovated house with the ideal blend of modern day comforts and the traditional simple Berber home experience

Meet the hosts

Nadia and Said invite you to a whole new experience.
We combine the goods of both Riad and  home stay in an atmosphere of warmth and invite you to stay with us as  family. You stay not at a mass produced apartment, but in a safe,  personalized environment where you can adjust just as easily as one  would, in a place called home.

Getting around

Only  20 kms from Ouirgane our home is a great starting point for treks all over, but take note of a truly special one: Tinimel is just 7 km from us. It's a mosque from the 12th century built in 1156.
it is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims.

Everybody needs to experience this. We had one of the most authentic experiences with Said’s family. If I could do my trip to Morocco again, I would definitely spend more time here.

Activities from Berber HomeStay

We can arrange a wide range of local activities, day trips and tours including guided walks in the Ijoukak valley to nearby villages, Atlas treks, Toubkal climbs, nature trails, mule treks and cycling to remote mountain villages and beyound.

Activities at Berber HomeStay

The Moroccan cuisine has a unique formula of spices, tastes and flavors. It's Tagines, Couscous are cooked with a passionate touch and details for the ingredients.
You like to reveal the magic behind the Moroccan kitchen and learn it's secrets and smells? If you enjoy your food at the Berber house you could always learn to cook Moroccan style and join a cooking class or bread making.

We had a fantastic stay with Said and his family. The food was delicious, he was great at explaining the culture and the area was peaceful. Said was great at showing us around the area and explaining everything in great detail. I would highly recommend this experience.

To be guests in the house of Said and his family was one of our best experiences in Morocco after they tried all to make us a comfortable stay in this little beautiful village in the middle of nowhere! He and his sister showed us the area and explained to us the allday living of them. In addition they gave us a great dinner, breakfast :) We enjoyed a lot and want to recommend Saids place to everyone, who wants to see a non-touristic authentic morrocain place in the Atlas-mountains!

Said's place was without a doubt our best stay during our trip around Atlas. By best I mean place with nice hospitality, nice people, personal approach and outstanding food. Evening meal was great including watching bread-making which was great fun. Breakfast was best we had during our trip. I regret to have stayed only one night!
